ASUS U31SD-AH51 13.3-Inch Thin and Light Laptop (Black)

Got this on lightning deal and with $75 gift card offer (total under $600)... which had a significant impact on my purchase. Had planned on purchasing the U36SD until this deal came up. U36 is a better built machine and has USB 3.0 but otherwise nearly identical. At regular price there is only a $50 difference, but on sale that jumped to nearly $250. Based on this, I took the plunge and went with this machine... and I am very happy I did.

Up front... CONs: Compared to the new ultrabooks, the build quality and design are 'so-so', but at this price point I think it is pretty solid. Definitely no 'head turner' and the body feels solid but 'cheap'. I concur with earlier review that USB ports are 'tight' and, while it looks great, the black aluminum cover definitely attracts fingerprints. Stock hard drive seems a bit slow.

PROs: Battery life... in excess of 8 hrs in real use... amazing. Monitor... 'standard' but viewing angles are extremely good and much better than other laptops I have. CPU/GPU... both awesome at this price, Core i5 is extremely fast and the optimus run NVidia 520 is great for moderate gaming and video. Basically identical 'guts' as much more expensive laptops in a cheaper body. Weight/size, under 1" thick and under 3 lbs... mixed with battery life and it is an awesome 'traveling' laptop. ADW: pain to sign up for (which upsets many folks) but getting a 1 year accidental damage warranty as part of the base price is awesome and a huge plus for going with an Asus machine... drop it on the way to class... get a replacement!

My 4th Asus laptop and I am continually amazed by the bang for the buck from their machines... and the U31SD is no exception. It won't turn heads like the MacBook or ZenBook... but you can buy two of these for the same price as the ultrabook... and it has the same performance with better battery life... save the money and buy yourself an ipad... win-win.

Caution against Scammer on Social Networks

Beware "Over Half a Million Esophageal Mac Malware"

Russian antivirus company reported that more than half of Mac computers have been infected with malware, Trojan Flashback. Virus designed to steal personal information of its users.
Russian companies, Dr Web, said that 550 thousand Macintosh computers infected by the growth of Mac botnet. However, recent developments, malware analyst Dr Web, Ivan Sorokin, announced that the number of infected computers increased to 600 thousand. The 274 known bots are from Cupertino, California.
He added that more than half of the infected Mac computers in the United States that is 57 percent with 303 449 units. Followed by Canada with 20 percent as much as 106 379 units, and United Kingdom with 12 percent of the botnet. Meanwhile, Australia was fourth with 32 572 of the infected host.
Malware was initially discovered in September 2011 by posing as a fake Adobe Flash Player installer. But within a few months ago, this malware has been exploiting the vulnerability to attack a target Java Mac systems.
A new variant that appeared last weekend seem to be taking advantage of the vulnerabilities of Java that Apple released yesterday.
CNet blogger, Topher Kessler explained that the malware was just visiting a malicious Web site containing the Flashback on OS X systems with Java installed will result in one of two routes installations. Malware will ask for an administrator password, and if one is given, the malware will install the package of code to the Applications folder.
If the password is not offered, the malware will install to a user account on the spot where the malware can run more globally.
Once installed, Flashback will inject the code into your web browser and other applications, such as Skype to collect passwords and other information from the user program.
Security firm F-Secure has published instructions on how to determine whether a Mac computer is infected or not with malware Flashback.

The improvements to the OS have been relatively gradual, but substantive. The feel of this machine compared to the old MacBook is far superior. The Unibody construction is solid, sleek and beautiful. It is everything I'd hoped it would be from a look and feel standpoint, but somehow a bit more sturdy. 

It is fear, isn't? If I also give the negative of Apple MacBook Pro MD322LL/A 15.4-Inch Laptop (newest version). Ok, lets me to start the negative as a comparison . In Apple MacBook Pro MD322LL/A 15.4-Inch Lapto (newest version), I got the stock screen - which is VERY glossy. I mean ... REALLY glossy. It's still beautiful and has better color reproduction than I could ever expect from a notebook. The reflectiveness of the display is only a minor inconvenience if you work in a controlled-lighting environment like me (I prefer it dark) or if you can crank up the brightness.

Now, you know much the good and the bad of Apple MacBook Pro MD322LL/A 15.4Inch Laptop (new version). The decision is back to your hand. But, I recommend you to buy it, because After I bought this laptop I didn't find major trouble in it. Or if you have your own review about you can share your comment in this blog.
